Millenial Resonance

Not since the Navy's "Let the Journey Begin" ad campaign in the 90's made use of Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" has a recruitment campaign had such a powerful soundtrack as "Army Strong".

It's a stirring piece that seems to strike a particular chord with young men of my generation. And out of the blue, I realized why:

Man, those marketing guys are clever.

This is some PsyOps shit. But as usual the lack of foresight will bite them in the ass. When thousands of new recruits bring with them an unprecedented wave of breaking and entering, chicken theft, and abuse of children's wind instruments, they'll regret it.

I realized just the other day that GenXers (like me) are now at the "life stage" that Boomers were when "Thirtysomething" was on TV.

But Xers are way cooler than Boomers, and we'll be even more awesome when the last Boomer kicks the bucket. Just you watch.
