Moving

There's a bit of a housing crunch on our base right at the moment, so the garrison command has changed the housing policy to help consolidate rooms in some living areas (LAs) that were well below capacity. As the KBR billeting employee put it, "there's a lot of people who thought they were somebody finding out that now they're somebody who's got a roommate". Heh heh. The upshot is that I'm moving a few rows down the LA, so it might be a few days before I can get internet set up over there. We'll just have to see.

Here's hoping the a/c in your new hooch is quiet.

Well, a few days ago my roommate had a day off, so he put in a work order and we got that fixed.

I went over the the new room, and it's a triple, but the two guys in there have moved into it pretty comfortably as a double; they had the third bed disassembled and hidden away, and there wasn't even a place for me to set down my stuff. So, we're going to see if we can find someplace else, or they're going to have to do some rearranging (and cleaning!) before I'm moving in over there. In the meantime, I'm in limbo, living out of my bags again.

Ach. You're going to have to get yourself a mortgage when you get back, just so you feel like you've got some sense of permanency.

Mom and Dad were never the kind of parents that kept our rooms just like they "used to be" once we flew the coop. I think our sister was picking out new paint colors for our previously-shared bedroom the day I left for college. And you, poor soul, being the youngest... didn't we have you sleeping in the garage the last summer you were home so that we could start using your bedroom as guest quarters? (wickedly snorts into sleeve)

"Pretty darn close," he says, with only-half-ironic bitterness.

Congratulations, Dear Brother! You've gotten your first spammer comment!

"Type some SPAM, LINK to it, and get paid peanuts" that is.

Sheesh.
