The Large Hadron Collider

Scientists at CERN are ready to fire up the Large Hadron Collider. They assure us that there's no chance of it destroying Earth, though the fact that we need the assurance is itself not exactly reassuring. Jeffrey Rowland has his own take on it, in which his zombie cat Joanna decides to stop the LHC (new to webcomics?
